But he also watches first-hand as the world turns colder and snowier, as Jack Frost expands his snowy kingdom. The evil ice demon's last words to him play over and over in Flea's mind even while human news reports of a new 'wintry' killer play on the TV and Internet. As if that's not bad enough, two unexpected elves are sent to protect Flea but only make him feel worse...Back in the North Pole, the elves prepare not only for a war that seems unavoidable, but also for the invasion of the world's greatest weapon, which had once been in their possession before Flea lost it at the South Pole. He's not sure whether to be more worried about his own safety or Santa's. Either way, the elves distrust him more than ever, his brother hates him more than ever, his friends are more preoccupied than ever and he has an eerie feeling again that a traitor is living among the rest of the elves...The Frostie Challenge is the penultimate book in Flea's Five Christmases and answers even more questions about the secrets of Santa, Mrs. Claus, Jack Frost and Christmas!OTHER BOOKS BY THE AUTHORFLEA'S FIVE CHRISTMASESBOOK ONE - THE NORTH POLE CHALLENGEBOOK TWO - THE RUDOLPH CHALLENGEBOOK THREE - THE JACK FROST CHALLENGEBOOK FOUR - THE FROSTIE CHALLENGEBOOK FIVE - THE SOUTH POLE CHALLENGE now available!KEEPER OF THE WATER TRILOGYBOOK ONE - DRINKING LIFEBOOK TWO - RECRUITSBOOK THREE - THE WATER QUEENSTHE COMET CLEMENT SERIESBOOK ONE - THE INNER CIRCLEBOOK TWO - INTERCEPTIONBOOK THREE - THE NEW SPACE RACEBOOK FOUR - THE THREE ARKSBOOK FIVE - EVACUATION EARTHBOOK SIX - FINAL DAYSBOOK SEVEN - IMPACTBOOK EIGHT - UNINVITEDBOOK NINE - TAKEOVERBOOK TEN - MISSION: SURVIVALBOOK ELEVEN - RELOCATIONBOOK TWELVE - A SECOND CHANCECRYO-MANCryo-Man - Book 1Robotropolis - Book 2Dearborn - Book 3Beyond River City - Book 4LIFE, INC. - If you could learn the exact moment of your death, would you? The world of CRYO-MAN is rich with detail and ripe for a series."Nikolas Edwards has a lone memory: he follows his young son around their house, playing and laughing, as any normal father would with his boy. Description :Finalist for the 2011 GilderLehrman Lincoln Prize "A seminal work. . . . One ofthe best examples of new, sophisticated scholarship on the social history ofCivil War soldiers." —The Journal of Southern History “Will undoubtedly, and properly, beread as the latest word on the role of manhood in the internal dynamics of theUnion army." —Journal of the Civil War Era During the Civil War, the Unionarmy appeared cohesive enough to withstand four years of grueling war againstthe Confederates and to claim victory in 1865. But fractiousness bubbled belowthe surface of the North’s presumably united front. Internal fissures were rifewithin the Union army: class divisions, regional antagonisms, ideologicaldifferences, and conflicting personalities all distracted the army fromquelling the Southern rebellion. In this highly originalcontribution to Civil War and gender history, Lorien Foote reveals that these internalbattles were fought against the backdrop of manhood. Clashing ideals ofmanliness produced myriad conflicts, as when educated, refined, and wealthyofficers (“gentlemen”) found themselves commanding a hard-drinking group offighters (“roughs”)—a dynamic that often resulted in violence and even death. Basedon extensive research into heretofore ignored primary sources, The Gentlemen and the Roughs uncoversholes in our understanding of the men who fought the Civil War and the societythat produced them.

Description :This is no boring librarian shushing people from behind a desk. This librarian corrals rogue magic. But more importantly, she has a frog and a cat, and she’s not afraid to use them! I knew when I woke up with a migraine that things were going to get interesting. As a magical artifact wrangler, it’s not an unusual way to start my day. But I had no idea how bad it was going to get. Until I found a frog sitting in my teacup. Even that, I could explain to myself if I had to. After all, I have a creative mind. But when the frog started talking to me, yeah, I was pretty sure I’d taken the wrong kind of pill that morning for my headache. If only I’d realized then what I know now. The talking frog was just the beginning of my problems. And quite a beginning it was!

Description :Hollywood was not always a bastion of liberalism. Following World War II, an informal alliance of movie stars, studio moguls and Southern California business interests formed to revitalize a factionalized Republican Party. Coming together were stars such as John Wayne, Robert Taylor, George Murphy and many others, who joined studio heads Cecil B. DeMille, Louis B. Mayer, Walt Disney and Jack Warner to rebuild the Republican Party. They found support among a large group of business leaders who poured money and skills into this effort, which paid off with the election of George Murphy to the US Senate and of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan to the highest office in the nation. This is an exciting story based on extensive new research that will forever change how we think of Hollywood politics.

Description :How to know a Psychotronic Movie: These films can commonly be identified by their use of exploitation elements and their interest in humanity's lower common demoninators. They occur throughout the world, but are particuarly common at midnight movie festivals and in video stores' cult sections, they are especially frequent at that beloved and dying institution, the drive-in. Their packaging is commonly deceptive. They almost always appear on videocassette. Among their kind are biker films, sci-fi series, quickie biopics, gimmick films, teen sex comedies, blaxploitation films, stalkers, slashers, snoozers, shrudderers, and anything starring Lynda Blair, david Carradine, Shannon Tweed or Drew Barrymore. And they're all here in the Psychotronic Video Guide. From Abby to Zontar, this book covers more than nine thousand amazing movies from the turn of the century right up to today's golden age of video, all described with Michael Weldon's dry wit. More than 450 rare and wonderful illustrations round out the book, making it a treasure trove of cinematic lore and essential for every fan of filmdom's finest offerings.

Description :A synthesis of research and theory, this work chronicles the dawn of a new era in which the adaptability and autonomy of living organisms becomes the model for human made systems and machines. The author combines ideas from the Choas Theory, cybernetics, current thinking on evolution and research into computerized artificial life with his own experience of on-line culture to show that industrial culture is now obsolete. This book presents the prospects of imminent revolution as Kelly identifies new frontiers of thinking about biological systems that will change the way the natural world is percieved.

Description :Keith Johnstone's involvement with the theatre began when George Devine and Tony Richardson, artistic directors of the Royal Court Theatre, commissioned a play from him. This was in 1956. A few years later he was himself Associate Artistic Director, working as a play-reader and director, in particular helping to run the Writers' Group. The improvisatory techniques and exercises evolved there to foster spontaneity and narrative skills were developed further in the actors' studio then in demonstrations to schools and colleges and ultimately in the founding of a company of performers, called The Theatre Machine. Divided into four sections, 'Status', 'Spontaneity', 'Narrative Skills', and 'Masks and Trance', arranged more or less in the order a group might approach them, the book sets out the specific techniques and exercises which Johnstone has himself found most useful and most stimulating. The result is both an ideas book and a fascinating exploration of the nature of spontaneous creativity.

Description :Buster Keaton told an interviewer in 1965, “When I’m working alone, the cameraman, the prop man, the electrician, these are my eyes out there.... They knew what they were talking about.” Drawn from film trade magazines, newspapers, interviews and public records, this book tells the previously unpublished stories of the behind-the-scenes crew who worked on Keaton’s silent films—like Elgin Lessley, who went from department store clerk to chief cameraman, and Fred Gabourie, who served as an army private in the Spanish American War before he became Keaton’s technical director. “I’d ask, ‘Did that work the way I wanted it to?’ and they’d say yes or no,” Keaton said of his crew. He couldn’t have made his films without them.
